Abstract :

*Theoretical computer science is often about giving constructive proofs to classical existence theorems, leading to algorithms (or showing that this is not possible). In this talk, we discuss one such problem, posed as an exercise in measure theory in 1940, and for which it took 50 years to find an algorithmic solution. These algorithms find direct applications in internet technology and link computer science with game theory.*
