## Mathematics Training for M.Sc. Students, 04-05 February, 2017 Department of Mathematics, Cochin University of Science & Technology

Department of Mathematics, CUSAT is organizing a Two-days training programme for M.Sc. Students during 04-05 February, 2017. The workshop aims to give awareness regarding various research opportunities in Mathematics to M.Sc. Students of colleges/universities in Kerala.

Several institutes and central/state universities, offer research positions and visiting programmes for mathematics majors. The primary objective of this workshop is to encourage students to expose to these opportunities. The speakers are from various research institutions in India, including some alumni members of this department. Focus will mainly on problem solving in Analysis, Algebra, Topology and Number Theory based on the syllabus covered in the NBHM Ph.D. test for research fellowship in Mathematics.

**Who can Apply: **M.Sc. Students from colleges/universities in Kerala who have some basic knowledge in the topics mentioned . However, final year B.Sc. Students will also be considered in exceptional cases.

- The teachers who recommend more than one student, shall rank them in the order of preference.
